Laurel Stearns
USA
Manager at LSSMgmt/Primary Wave Music
Como empresária artística independente, gerenciou as carreiras de The Dirty Dozen Brass Band (Mammoth), The Descendents, ALL (Epitaph), GWAR (Metal Blade), The Paladins (4AD) e Plastilina Mosh (Capitol).
Before venturing off on her own Laurel Stearns for a year and a half, built a small roster at Prospect Park(The Firm) with Red Fang, White Denim , Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Jenny O. and Father John Misty as well as day to day for Danzig. Before Prospect Park , she spent nearly a decade at Capitol Records, 3.5 years at Red Light Management and 6 years as an independent manager while scouting for the Sony Work Group.
Over the last 12 years, she has partnered with Primary Wave Music (roster includes: Red Fang (Relapse), U.S. Girls (4AD/Beggars) , The Album Leaf (Nettwerk), Teen Mortgage (RoadRunner/Atlantic Records) Danny Elfman (Sumerian Records) . With this partnership, the combination fast became a hub of creativity with all the resources at hand on the management and publishing side. Laurel has been involved in creative contributions for publishing clients, Devo, Leon Russell , James Brown.
Pre pandemic Laurel has been a consultant on talent buying and producing for the Adult Swim Festival in DTLA (28k people attended).
During the time at Prospect Park Laurel music supervised the documentary released by Johnny Knoxville’s company , Dick House/MTV,”The Wild and Wonderful Whites Of West Virginia” and worked on music placement on Prospect Park’s series for FX,” Wilfred”.
Earlier in Laurel’s career during her tenure at Capitol Records, Laurel brought in bands such as: Interpol, The Decemberists, Shout Out Louds, Fischerspooner, Sparklehorse and LCD SoundSystem. While working at Capitol Laurel realized there were many bands that she was passionate about that belonged nowhere near a major label. With two partners, launched Cold Sweat Records/Caroline. From that label , Wives/No Age, Battles, Devendra Banhart , Health , reissue of Yahowha 13 (The Source Family’s band) and many others were discovered and released.
Laurel helped open the LA office for Redlight Management in 2008, brought in The Decemberists and Alberta Cross to the company .
Laurel also worked on the Chris Cornell campaign
As an independent manager, Laurel managed: The Dirty Dozen Brass Band (Mammoth), The Descendents, ALL(Epitaph), GWAR(Metal Blade), The Paladins (4AD) Plastilina Mosh (Capitol). Laurel helped develop the fan bases for these bands with branded tours & creative marketing ideas (ie: comic book instores for GWAR, shows on cruise ships for Dirty Dozen Brass Band, The Descendent’s “Caffeine Nation Tour” - which did not allow any beer sponsors or corporate posters in the venue, etc.). Her fiercely independent ‘can do’ attitude has remained with her through every step of her career – and has taught her to never rely solely on record labels or radio.
Earlier in her career, Laurel also scouted for The Sony WORK group, where she was involved in the album set up for artists such as Fiona Apple, Jennifer Lopez, Jamaroquai & Eagle Eye Cherry. She was also editor for a Los Angeles based magazine where she interviewed everyone from Joey Ramone to Shel Talmy and documented the underground music scene. And she also worked at Cherokee Recording Studio and Studio 55 where she worked on sessions for The Pixies, David Bowie, Rod Stewart and many more.

Onde a música se encontra. Donde la música se encuentra. Where music comes together.
