SIM São Paulo 2020 will have in its schedule a series of four panels in partnership with In Place Of War,organization with global action that uses art and creativity as a tool to implement positive social changes in conflict areas and that in November promotes the Change Maker Summit,a series of online events that these panels are part of. They will present inspiring stories and interactive workshops led by revolutionary artists and creative activists around the world.
The exhibitions here on the SIM portal will take place every Friday in November, always at 8 pm, and this will be the only training activity open to the public and made available for free.
Below you can find out what each panel will look like. The first one takes place on 6/11 and will be conducted by Ruth Daniel, CEO of the organization In Place of War, which is also part of the Sim São Paulo International Council.
Creativity wins over covid-19, basic resistance to the pandemic
The event will open with the debut of the short film In Place of Wars 'Creativity Conquers Covid', a record of the creative responses to the pandemic by change makers working to support their local communities, ranging from a a radio station that seeks to comfort isolated people in their buildings in Caracas, Venezuela, with a bread delivery service in Soweto, South Africa, and a hip-hop collective that started distributing soup to the poor in Medellín, Colombia. Soon after, there is a panel discussion moderated by the CEO of In Place of War, Ruth Daniel, with a representative from each of these organizations:
Social transformation based on popular arts
This panel will discuss how conflict-affected communities have managed to use art to drive positive social transformation, helping to rebuild safe, prosperous and cohesive communities. The panel is based on the experiences and practices of artists from Colombia, Bosnia, Lebanon and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The panel will have participations from Precy Numbi (Artist / Democratic Republic of Congo), Róbinson Úsuga Henao (Lluvia de Orion/Colômbia), Farah Wardani (Laban/Líbano) and Ronald Panza (Ativista cultural/Bosnia)

This panel will present Pelumi Fatayo and Samuel Remi-Akinwale, co-founders of the Creation Foundation, defined as a production collective and Content Creators dedicated to hosting authentic content and honest conversations. The discussion will feature a special guest, the British activist Olivia Lee.
