The Palestine Music Expo (PMX) Family is honored to be taking part in SIM SÃO PAULO 2020 !
All the performance submissions from JERUSALEM artists, making Jerusalem the theme of the PMX showcase.
We are unable to have a festival in Palestine this year. So why not virtually ‘travel’ to other prominent international festivals? SÃO PAULO, here we come!
The Jerusalem artists will take us on a virtual tour of Jerusalem and tell us about their experiences as artists living in this incredibly complex city. We will also learn how they deal with the restrictions imposed by the pandemic. Each
artist had submitted a performance of a song and an introduction video.
Overall, there will be 8 musical acts in the showcase, featured on December 6th, 4pm (Brazil time). The list of artists include: Daughters of Jerusalem, Bashar Murad, Norah Shaqur, Abu Athena, Margo Musleh, Darwish, Wissam Murad and Dave Kirreh. CHECK THEM OUT!
Over the past three years (in PMX2017, PMX2018 & PMX2019), PMX annual festival has been making noise throughout the international music scene. We have made it our mission to connect between Palestinian musician
and the world wide music industry. Unfortunately, putting “Palestine” and “Music” in the same sentence isn’t a natural thought to far too many people in the international industry. We are proud that pmx is changing that. Over the past 3 years, 2020 excluded for obvious reasons, we have had 68 Palestinian
musical acts got the opportunity to showcase their music. A lot of them received deals and offers. 7 Bands were invited to international music festivals, 5 Bands received record deals and 12 bands went on international tours.
Thousands of people attended the festival that takes place every year in Ramallah, giving lots of energy and support
to their artists.
Here’s what Mahmood Jrere, a Palestinian musician and one of the co-founders of PMX, said on the reasons behind
establishing the successful event: “The lack of proper infrastructure to develop a healthy industry and the lack of
opportunities afforded to me personally to develop internationally inspired me and my friends to create PMX.”
