Solange Cesarovna
Solange Cesarovna, cantora, autora e compositora cabo-verdiana, é uma das vozes mais marcantes e carismáticas da música de Cabo Verde, reconhecida como a “Rainha da Morna do Século XXI”. Desde cedo revelou o seu talento, vencendo o “Festival de Pequenos Cantores” aos 7 anos e representando Cabo Verde internacionalmente aos 8. Licenciada em Comunicação Social com especialização em Artes Cinematográficas no Brasil, também estudou canto clássico e lírico na prestigiada Escola de Música Villa Lobos.
Ao longo da sua carreira, combinou tradição e inovação, lançando álbuns emblemáticos como “Mornas”, que teve um papel crucial na elevação da Morna a Património Cultural Imaterial da Humanidade em 2019. Em 2013, cofundou a Sociedade Cabo-verdiana de Música (SCM), que presidiu até 2023, transformando o panorama dos direitos autorais em Cabo Verde.
Pós graduada em Gestão Coletiva de Direitos do Autor na Lusofonia em Portugal, Solange é também Embaixadora Africana de Direitos Autorais e é reconhecida internacionalmente como uma das 100 Personalidades Negras mais Influentes da Lusofonia em 2021, tendo recebido o prémio de Conquista Excecional da Fair Trade Music International em 2023. Atualmente, é vice-presidente da Academia Africana de Música (AMA) e a primeira CLIP Champion da WIPO for Creators, reafirmando o seu compromisso com os direitos dos criadores e a promoção global da música africana.
Solange Cesarovna, Cape Verdean singer, author, and composer, is one of the most remarkable and charismatic voices in Cape Verdean music, recognized as the “Queen of Morna of the 21st Century.” She revealed her talent early on, winning the “Festival of Young Singers” at the age of 7 and representing Cape Verde internationally at the age of 8. She holds a degree in Social Communication with a specialization in Cinematic Arts in Brazil and also studied classical and lyrical singing at the prestigious Villa Lobos School of Music.
Throughout her career, she has combined tradition and innovation, releasing iconic albums like “Mornas,” which played a crucial role in elevating Morna to Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2019. In 2013, she co-founded the Cape Verdean Society of Music (SCM), which she presided over until 2023, transforming the landscape of copyright in Cape Verde.
With a postgraduate degree in Collective Rights Management of Authors in Lusophony in Portugal, Solange is also an African Copyright Ambassador and was internationally recognized as one of the 100 Most Influential Black Personalities in Lusophony in 2021. She received the Exceptional Achievement Award from Fair Trade Music International in 2023. Currently, she serves as vice president of the African Music Academy (AMA) and is the first CLIP Champion of WIPO for Creators, reaffirming her commitment to creators’ rights and the global promotion of African music.
